Gifts are meant to be given

All of our gifts are from God, either natural from is image on us at birth or spiritual gifting later in life. Gifts are not for us, they are meant to be given for the glory of God.

James 1:17 “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father”

Matthew 25- The Parable of the Talents
“Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. To one he gave five talentsa of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. The man who had received the five talents went at once and put his money to work and gained five more. So also, the one with the two talents gained two more. But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.
“After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. The man who had received the five talents brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.’
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
“The man with the two talents also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two talents; see, I have gained two more.’
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
“Then the man who had received the one talent came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’
“His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.
“‘Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Life Track and time line revised

Life Track and life map
YOUR LIFE TRACK

Our life experience is made up of (i) the events that happened and (ii) how we processed them. The goal of this exercise is to gain a clearer picture of the main events that have marked your life and have made you the person you are today.

Place the main events or « landmarks » on the graph

1 MAJOR TRANSITIONS and SHIFTS in perspective on live
What are your best memories?
Look at the challenges you have had to overcome.
If you could « rewrite » your own story, what, if anything, would you do differently?
What “roles” have you played in your life?
2. FORMATIVE EXPERIENCES (These are similar to above but less dramatic.)
3. INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE
Who made the biggest impact in your life?
How do you imagine other people saw you at each point in your life, how do you imagine they see you today
4. KEY LESSONS LEARNED

STEP 1:
Brainstorm major transitions and perspective shifts, formative experiences, influential people, and key lessons learned by using post it notes.

* Think back to your earliest memories and work your way to the present.
* As images and thoughts come to mind, record these
* Only one item per note, using one word or a short phrase to describe the actual event
* Place the notes on the table in front of you, in no particular order
* This is simply BRAINSTORMING, so don’t explain, feel guilty, or get hung up on details
* Don’t just write down happy memories; write down painful items as well on the post-it notes as well (Some painful experiences are very personal and you won’t want them on a post-it note for the world to see. In those cases, use symbols or code-words which you understand.)

STEP 3:
Rewrite the items from the post it notes onto the graph in time order. Place the low points lower on the graph and the high points higher on the graph.

STEP 4:
Use post-it notes to label the main chapters or seasons of your life’s journey.
How do you imagine they will see you in 10 yrs from now?
